Hadn't realised how damp the garage was until I left some leather seats in there for a couple of months and they went all mouldy - white fluff, black spots etc.

After trying a few things I used some surgical spirit, and the seats have literally come up like new.

The front seats in both my landcruiser and boxster are looking old, shiny, creased etc. Is using spirit (basically 90% ethanol in 10% distilled water) a bad idea, is it going to remove the factory finish or anything?

Thanks, James

It might clean them but it will strip out any remaining oils from the hide I would of thought. If you do use it I would suggest applying some leather conditioner to them afterwards. I cleaned the seats on my newly acquired legacy at the weekend. 15 year old cream leather came up like new with Gliptone leather cleaner and conditioner.
