I'm having a car imported (Subaru Forester STI), the car will most likely live outside.

The importer offers a traditional Dinitrol underseal treatment as part of the total cost but for an additional £180 (inc VAT) they also offer what they call a "full cavity treatment"

This additional treatment "is applied through a high powered lance into the box sections, door shuts and bonnet skins, it will basically go anywhere we have access as well as it having a creeping agent to enable it to continue coating the areas until it sets"

The additional £180 cost is negligible in terms of the total cost of getting this car on the road.

Are there any potential pit falls of having this treatment done?

Tell them to do nothing, save the cash, research it, get it home, get a cheap compressor and the Dinotrol and do it yourself and spend some time on it, then you know for sure its as well covered as it can be.

The extra £180 just sounds like, takes some more cash, spend another ten minutes on it to me.

Although the idea of doing it myself might be appealing, I live in the city so lifting the car to get good access is basically a non-starter.

It can be a very messy job so sometimes its best left to someone else, but how good a job are they likely to do is my only worry.
