Our vision is simple: to “Keep London moving”. And over the past two years, the Directorate of Traffic Operations has made great strides towards this goal. Now we’re stepping up the pace, with major investment into the traffic infrastructure. As part of this investment, we’re looking for a senior transportation manager to oversee the design, installation and commissioning of traffic signal schemes and other traffic equipment programmes, such as CCTV and driver information signs.
You’ll create and deliver a strategy to improve journey reliability for millions of people every day. It isn’t just about what we can do now, but how we bring in new technology and approaches to traffic management in the future. It means leading a large team across a range of disciplines, and co-ordinating work with Transport for London’s other divisions and third parties. It means understanding the needs of the business and the importance of building strong relationships. And it means tackling some of the biggest challenges facing London.
So you need to be a strong and assured figure with the technical and personal skills to engage, influence and inspire others. Your background will probably be in transport management and you’ll have experience of running large-scale projects and major business change initiatives; although probably nothing quite on this scale.
