Brake overhaul

Hi all! I'm getting dangerously used to 4" brake pedal travel, and will be putting new pads, discs and fresh fluid in. Any thoughts as to a good all-round combination that's not too expensive? Cheers in advance!

I did mine recently, new discs standard ones, with some greenstuff pads, £32, some use red ones, and rear shoes from halfrauds £7, and some dot 4 fluid,some use dot 5.
I don`t know how to do this link/qoute stuff yet but look on chrisgadd post sent on monday, it may help.

Be carefull if you change brake fluid, as not all are compatible with the original type seals. If you are using dot 4 then stick to dot 4. I would not recommend changing to dot 5 unless a complete stripdown and seal overhaul is being done.

Use DOT4 or DOT5.1 (DOT5.1 slightly better). They are fundamentally similar, compatible with each other and can even be mixed.

Despite the similarity in the name DOT5 is very different stuff, isn't really suitable for a road car, and isn't compatible with either of the other two. If you change to/from DOT5 you will need to flush the system and change the seals.
