Im coming under increasing pressure from some customers to be certificated to ISO9001.

I fully understand what its about, i implemented it for a railway maintenance facility 20 odd years ago.

My question is, not having been directly involved in it for so long, does anyone have any recommendations on who to use to keep this as simple and slick as possible?

I did find one, Hibo, who do an online assesment. Amazes me, but happy to do that. But i dont know them from the next guy in the street.

If it is customer pressure pushing you this way then you need to make sure that the body assessing you is UKAS accredited otherwise your customers won't accept the certificate.

I doubt any on line only operation could ever get accreditation.

Any serious customer looking for ISO 9001 certification, will expect the certification to have been issued by an accredited certification body (in the UK, this certificate supplier would be accredited by UKAS, and the certificate will bear the UKAS logo).

Hibo explicitly state that they are not accredited. This could be an issue as clued-up customers are likely to notice the lack of UKAS accreditation; and this could lead to awkward questions.

Quite surprised to hear the demand for it as my experience of it is that it’s just a box ticking exercise to push paper around.

Thanks guys for pointing out the UKAS accreditation requirement. It hadn't occured to me that someone would offer a servive that wasn't!!!! Somewhat pointless id have said? Might as well print my own certificate.
