This is more of a point to make or a possible vent.
Few months ago I helped my friend sell his 2004 Hilux, he sold it for £2k very honest sale, i.e very rusty but low mileage and it did run very well, only had 75kish on the clock but as above the bodywork and more so the below/chassis was not in a good way. Also only had very limited service history. The Hilux was put on Gumtree and I have never seen a car sell so fast. Someone from outside London bought it, nice enough although stank of weed but said it was going to be used on a family farm, hence condition/future MOT's not being an issue. Flew up to Scotland the same night. £2k paid.
We have now found the car on the market I think its on Facebook Marketplace for £6.5k!! clearly bodywork has been tidied up, appears sadly more so to hide the rust but the back window is still missing and has been declared as FSH. Just utter madness, some poor sod will potentially buy what appears to be a solid Hilux but which has been heavily used off road and really not in a good way. Potentially a full resto was done but I suspect not.
I also sold my Mk5 GTI not so long ago, thought I was selling it to a private enthusiast owner, I sold it for just over £6k. It was very tidy, low mileage but with a few issues, this is now up at over £8k!! Just hope the issues have been sorted and perhaps I should sold it too cheap! Saying that its still for sale.
As I say more a vent/possible discussion. I guess at the end of the day we both got what we wanted for the cars price wise but just makes me think sometimes!
