I noticed straight away on delivery, that the gear lever is shorter on the 6.0, compared to the 5.7 I had, but in truth, the 'change is still pretty awful.

Silly question, but I presume that the gearbox oil IS the engine oil ? (If not, I would have tried to use better gearbox oil.)

It is just that I am wondering if there is any way to improve the gearchange.
It has also jumped out of 1st gear twice now, after pulling away from a standstill.

The gearbox oil is NOT the engine oil. Its not a mini...

There are various reccomendations for gear oil ( it actually uses ATF Dexron III )
Not sure what the guys on here think is best. I think my T56 just has Fuchs ATF Dexron III in it, simply as it was all the local motor factors had when I put the car together.
I have no complaints with it at all. I will probably change to Castrol Transmax Z in the near future as most guys from OZ seem to reccomend it highly.
Pity I can only buy it locally in 25ltr drums, and it aint cheap.

The gearbox oil IS ATF (Automatic transmition fluid)

many options available but my choice is from "Redline"

The box is not a bad gearbox and it is very strong but it is let down by a poor gear linkage you should try and find a club members with a rip shifter to try that...............it is a very good upgrade.

Changed to redline couple of weeks back. Much better change quality, and quieter.

Also noticed significant improvement when I used the GM Synchromesh stuff the other week. Cold shifting is easier. Overall noise from the gearbox is reduced. All in all, I'm much happier.

I'll be finishing it off with a Ripshifter or the Wortec shifter (when I find out more about it). Paul, any chance you can send me some details & pic's please. TIA.

Have you thought of having it zeroshifted?

Pricey but should be worth it.
