Another bloody Mx5
Discussion
After searching for a first "sports" car, posting on a couple of threads and coming *very* close to buying a 986 2.5, I bought this mk2.5 1.8 sport

Wasn't really looking for a mk2.5 in the first place, as the only mx5 I considered buying was a mk3, but they were out of my prince range, and after having a drive in my friend's father's mk2.5 that had some nice mods to it (racing beat goodies and meister r coilovers), I decided a mk2 would be quite nice! My friends family had 4 mx5s and this one was for sale so I took it out for a drive, quite enjoyed it and the sound it make, and decided it would do a good base to build on, an mx5 I can use for my daily commute to work (less than 5 miles) and use on track, and for some b-road blasts, as I live close to a couple of interesting tracks and roads (Charade and Laquais, in France).
Now, it does have some rust on the rear arches, but none on the engine rails. Honest. I checked it on a lift, and it seemed good.
As one of the previous owners wanted to make a Mazdaspeed replica, complete with rotrex supercharger, he added unpainted Mazdaspeed front and rear bumpers, plus some definitely-not-mazdaspeed-what-on-earth-is-this side skirts. So I might be tempted to buy some original Mazdaspeed side skirts, and get the unpainted, painted.
So he also added an uprated radiator, ht leads, BEgi cold air intake that apparently is nice to have when doing FI on mx5s, an uprated head gasket, a nice sounding exhaust from IL motorsport and sports cat, and some EBC greenstuff that will probably go away soon.
As it's a sport edition, it comes with a 6 speed box and LSD (thank you very much, sir) plus a big brake kit, and the original bilstein dampers that seem like they have seen better days, so the plan is to, slowly upgrade it while I get to know it around my roads. Ideally, get some nice pads, yokohama ad08rs, downsize to 15s maybe, and some good coilovers. Plus a roll bar. Might look into getting a header, but that's further down the line.
