I have a 450 (98) chimaera with PAS. I think the steering feels light (others have commented on this), can you adjust the assist or is it just down to individual units?

What tyres & tyre pressures are you running? This can make a fair difference...

Running 24/25 psi. Purchased car used, looking at service history car had PAS unit replaced. Can you switch the unit off or turn down?

Isn't that what that big alloy knob in the centre console is for on the Chimaera? Don't know much about PAS 'cos I have a Griffith. Rich...

What tires are you running on it? Bridgestone SO2PPs? 205/55, 205/60, 215/50 or 225/50 on the front?
The thinner, the lighter the steering... Also, those pressures are a bit on the high side - I think the recommended pressures are 22/24.
Also, you may want to get the geometry checked, as this can affect the way the steering feels...
I'm not aware of any way to adjust the assistance of the PAS unit, although I'm sure you'd get some takers if you wanted to swap cars with someone who wants PAS & is driving a non PAS Chimaera.

cheers,
Craig
