If you are in Cambridge on Saturday, the 23rd March, the Duxford folks are giving a lecture on conserving the old bird as part of the Science Festival.

There's also a lecture on jet engine materials later on the same day.

Details here: https://www.sciencefestival.cam.ac.uk/events

I won’t be able to make it, but I know a few people who worked on them, including a couple of ex-flight engineers. Cheers!

One of my old instructors flew a Victor in one of the Blackbuck missions.

The Victor is currently in pieces in the restoration hangar, stripped back to it’s bare metal. Even as it is, it looks pretty impressive (and futuristic) in it’s all metal finish.

I went to Duxford about 3 years ago and it looked very sad sat outside all tatty so I'm very happy it's being painted.

Duxford was ace and can't wait to go back.

Not just being painted - there's lots of dismantling going on, partly to remove corroded magnesium components.

Duxford have training courses on how to restore aircraft to museum static display standard, they’re pretty good at it.
