awesome driving. how many times do you think you would have to drive on the ring to get knowledge like that?

im going for the first time in the summer, but unfortunatley i dont think i will be going quite that fast (who knows, my Ka might reveal hidden depths!!)

as an aside: which vids do people think are the best ones for getting a basic knowledge of the ring?
the one that springs to mind for me is the record breaking CTR vid. but does anyone know of any others that they think are good?

Awesome driving - some of the gaps he squeezed through can't have left much room for manoeuvre! It's too long since I drove the 'Ring (in a Mercedes 220S, which tells you how long ago!) and I've forgotten the rules. This chap was overtaking on either side - what's the form? I noticed that some of the cars being passed indicated: does the overtaking car indicate his choice of side?

My son has grandtourismo 4 on the ps2. It has the nurburgring as one of it's circuits.
My son can lap the ring in a gt3 in about 8 minutes, you should see his racing lines...He is absolutely smitten with the ph video's of the ring, has studied them, and uses them on gt2. It is amazing to watch him. He's not 8 yet.

For what it's worth, I can't get near him on any of the circuits.

It looks like the video was made on a full (race) test day, in which case "anything goes" for overtaking.

On public days at the 'Ring it is overtaking on the left only (as far as I'm aware): it is a German toll road so the same rules of the road apply. More details at www.nurburgring.org.uk

amazing!! if you double click on it, it goes to full size, (as the actress said...) but the quality is dodgy. Good enough to give your heart a working over tho'...dont have to go to the gym now! I think I'll just play that again.......

Does his screen crack after a big braking point where it seems like he might have left the ground? Towards the end of the vid.

He was lucky there - about 2 minutes 10 seconds in, as he passes someone on their right, they go to shut the door on him. How he got through the gap without leaving paint on the crash barrier or the other car I'm not sure! Certainly a very impressive machine.

AMAZING!!!! A huge range of cars there as well - I spotted a Mini, a lot of Mercedes, a Boxster, a few Honda Civics and (I think) an Accord, a Ford Puma, a Suzuki Swift (?) and that yellow Exige Lotus.

Cool.
