Reliable Petrol 4 seater/ Practical Convertible - upto £12K

Hi,

I give up on the wife. First told me she wanted me a SUV. Now would much prefer a convertible.

I am loathe to get something too old? Has to be petrol and at least with a bit of oomph.

Any ideas? She has her heart set on an Audi A4 convertible. But I gather the last shape is the B6? 2004 onwards. Cheap enough I suppose

E class maybe?

Any ideas or experiences please advise.

Saab. Well built, safe, reliable and a lot cheaper than the equivalent Merc or Audi. I have had 2 saab 93 convertibles. Another to consider is a Volvo C70. Never owned one myself though.

Be em 3 series or 6 series.

In the same boat ourselves. Looking at a convertible, decent 4 seats. Was looking petrol but also looking at soot burners now as well on about 10k per year. Similar budget, maybe £10k depending on what’s available. Seemed to have narrowed down to 3 Series, A5, C70 or E Class. Ideally would love a 61 plate E350CDI to keep fuel costs reasonable.

I think we are going for an S5. She is obsessed with all wheel drive having had a JLR product.

Is it a torsen diff on a 2011 S5?
