Scenario

Ltd company - year end 31 March.

Plan is to have accounts prepared as soon as possible after year end and to then strike co. off.
(Co. hasn't traded for several years so just want it closed now).

Confirmation Statement due 26 March.

With the proposed strike off in mind, is it worth completing and submitting the confirmation statement?

I know the confirmation statement is a legal requirement, but will Co's House really pursue me immediately if the statement, as far as they are concerned, is late?

I'd imagine I will have struck off my Ltd co. by end of April at the latest so am hoping this will also stop Co's House from pursuing the lack of confirmation statement. Sound feasible?

(I know it's only £13, but why spend it if I don't have to).

Why not just file the strike off now?

Why bother with the accounts etc.? Just do the ds01 today

If the company accounts do not generate show that the company has no liabilities to third parties, it might be just as easy to apply to have the company struck off before any formal accounts are completed.

It's to do with timing - had to serve my accountant 30 days notice which took me up to the end of the company year which is paid up anyway so may as well submit one more set of accounts.

Any thoughts on the original question - I'm guessing I should be OK.

That seems a silly reason not to get rid of the headache early.

ETA: I kinda thought the penalty was like £100 or £150 or similar?

Even though I laid the ground work a few weeks ago and agreed with my accountant for my final company accounts to be ready by 1 April or as close to this date as possible, turns out this "won't be achievable".

As no date is readily forthcoming on when the accounts will be ready, I have decided to go ahead and strike off my Ltd now - in fact, just submitted the application online.

Wish I had heeded the advice on this thread and done it when I originally posed the question - lesson learned.

Apparently, it will take 2 working days for confirmation of acceptance of the strike off application.

With this time frame in mind, I just wanted to confirm that I won't need to submit the company accounts for 2018/19 (Y/E 31/03/19) or the confirmation statement (due 26/03/19) - i.e. Companies House won't chase me to submit these.

Unlikely

Did the company have a paye scheme and, if so, was it closed?

Was the company ever vat registered and, if so, was it deregistered?

Those are 2 things that can sometimes hinder a quick strike off

No to both questions. The strike off was accepted so done and dusted by the looks of things. Right?
