Please excuse me for asking, if this has been covered before.
I have a 2010 V8 vantage that has an indicator fault showing. Whilst the front and rear bulbs are illuminated, they flash double time on the right hand and a fault on the dash shows bulb failure.
I understand the rear cluster is at fault and is a sealed unit.
My question is: Can this be fixed with software update, or repaired, or is it £600 sealed unit replacement ?
Thank you for your feedback.

It’s a replacement unit unfortunately. If it happens to be a red rear light, passenger side, then let me know as I have a spare one!

I’ve had 3 of the white LED side light strips break over the years and not once have I seen a bulb failure warning light! I didn’t even know they had one 😂 mines a model year 2010 too.... time to have a closer look I think!

My left front (passenger side) LED indicator is failing regularly. Soon to be pulled out, split open and played with to see if I can fix it

Replacement quote for whole headlight is $4400 which is just ridiculous when I'm sure it's just a connection on the PCB which can be soldered and fixed

Worth a try on your rear one too

See link on how to do it

Divetheworld did a great tutorial on how to upgrade the circuit boards, leds etc. Here is the link.

I've recently bought a 2007 V8V and have the same symptoms - blown right hand indicator bulb warning on dash and RHS indicators flash very fast when the error surfaces, which is most times I drive the car. However I'm not convinced either the front or rear light clusters are at fault because when I put on the hazard flashers, all four corners flash as they should. I left mine on for 15 minutes and they were all still working as they should.

Has anyone else with this fault tested their hazards to see if one unit is failing or flashing fast?

In my car, the fault usual arises after a few activations of the right turn indicator, rather than immediately. It also only happens when the right indicator is fully clicked into position - so if you just push and release it without it clicking into position - no fault occurs.

Lastly, the same fault occurred on the left hand side, but only once. Everything seems to be pointing to a cause other the light units themselves.

I wish I had a wiring diagram of the lighting/indicators.

Interested in owner's (or auto-electrician's) comments/thoughts?

Thanks, Toby

Surely the whole unit does not replacing just for a bulb? If the front and rear bulbs are flashing double time, could that mean the side repeater bulb is the one that has gone?

if it is found to be a side repeater then this can be just a bulb replacement however, the front and rear lights are LED and it's usually ingress of moisture that causes the problem. I tried in vain to repair my rear light earlier this year by following some tutorials and completely messed it up, ended up buying a used item off eBay and to date all has been good. I did clean it up and make sure the sealant round the edge was in good order and then added some more to it just for good measure.

Have a look in the FAQs at the top of the forum. Steve Campbell is your man for all things front and rear light LED repair wise.

Side repeaters on both side are working fine so not a blown bulb. I did wonder if you can get side repeater bulbs of different impedance and perhaps a previous owner had used an incorrect replacement, but that's a long shot.

Thanks for the tip, lots of good info there.

Did I forget to say I'm on the other side of the world? Can't send a light over, and I'm not convinced yet it's a light per my observation of the perfect behaviour when using hazard switch rather than steering column stalk.

As a super cheap solution and for peace of mind, I would change both side bulbs first making sure to fit correct voltage ones. Then you narrow down your options.

I had an issue with my rear lights not long after I bought the car. The dash showed that the indicators were working fine, but neither the front or rear lights were flashing (the side one was). To prove it was the rear lamp, I simply took off both rear lamps and switched them around. Of course, because they are different shapes, they won't fit into the respective holes in the bodywork, but the connectors are wired up exactly the same way. In my case, the problem changed to the other side, proving it was indeed the real light cluster at fault.

A couple of times the near side indicator flashes double time or even stops. Then out of the blue it works fine. All indicator and side light LEDs are bright. So I’m wondering if it’s the indicator resistor fixed to the back of the head light. I wondered what it was. And by accident when googling there it was.£24 part. Any feed back on this theory.
