111r/Exige S2 brake pedal
Discussion
Just thought I would tell all about my hunt for a fix for my Exige's brake pedal.
The problem
I have between 2 to 3 cm of dead travel before I get any bite from the brakes. After 2k and a track day I had had enough as H&T was not easy and soon as the brakes got hot it got worse.
Solutions
I have been told there are brake pads, different brake fluid and even braided brake hoses.
I did none of the above.
I went to the dealer and got the usual "they all do that sir". I had a little chat with the mechanic and he said he would give Hethal a call.
That afternoon I came to collect the car and was very pleased to find a stiffer brake pedal with no slack, now perfectly placed for H&T.
Apparently all he did was tighten everything up (there is a certain degree of adjustability) so if I were you and you had an issue with the brakes go to your dealer and demand they sort it as it can be sorted!

James here:
I had the problem, Lotus do not like you to adjust the pedal as if you were to over do it it could be dangerous. However there is a threaded rod that connects the pedal to the servo unit on the pedal box. This can be adjusted under the dash to take most of the differential out and provide the proper correct positioning. Just make sure the threaded rod is still protruding from the nut so it is secure. Takes a little while to fiddle on your back under the dash.
The standard factory set position is absolutely abismal and a sorry state for Lotus to issue a car with.
