Don't under estimate the little things!

While fitting the Mod-Wise two speed fan kit (great piece of kit ) at the weekend I noticed my air filter looked like it had a coming together with an oil slick. I know they are meant to be lightly oiled but this was covered in gunk from 6 years of use, honestly it was disgusting!
Quick call to ACT and a nice shiny new K&N arrived today, just fitted it and

WHAT A DIFFERENCE, pulls cleaner, idles lovely, sounds better, no hesitation anywhere!!

Can't believe a clean air filter could make so much difference (actually I can if seeing the old foam one I took off)

Don't know if the air filter is part of any service. The bible doesn't mention it on the schedule.

Anyone else know, are they cleaned, replaced?

Mine was last changed at its last major service. Not sure whether change or change if required but they should check anyway and if it's bad it should be changed. Who does your servicing?

Serviced in June last year (3000 miles ago) by Austec, was a minor service though. The last major was done 8000 miles ago by The TVR Centre in Barnet.

The filter was undamaged but the forward facing part of the cylinder was thick sludgey oil. I mean you couldn't see the foam is was that thick.

As far as I know, it is replaced every 12'000 miles (each second service) but is cleaned and re-oiled each 6k service. Well, mine is anyway..

Just had mine serviced at TMS and they changed the filter. It was a 12k service. Picking it up later this week, so fingers crossed for a sweet running motor!

Looked at the 12000 mile service sheet from TVR Barnet and no sign of it been changed there either - and the list is pretty comprehensive.

Mine was exactly the same. Cleared all the gunk off with a scraper - even that made a big difference. I am putting on an ACT induction kit next month.
