Huf House on Grand Designs

Well, they're repeating the fantastic episode about the charming couple in their 70s who built a Huf house.
Notice how they kept in the bit about the British crane driver who was (allegedly) late? I thought that guy sued Grand Designs successfully for this?
Is it just me or does Huf remind PHers of Ruf? Sure, the names sound similar. Similarly ultra cool high-end German aspitational product. One the most expensive thing you will ever buy, the other the second most expensive. Both companies are located in small German towns that mix tradition with their cutting edge manufacturer that choses it as its base.
I would LOVE to build a Huf house. It's an ambition of mine. Must work harder......
(I wonder what a Huf garage looks like? They probably do a specific one for air-cooled 911s! Hope so).

The Missus and I have been looking into building a Huf house... their website is rather cool.
It is a big undertaking though - so you have to be psyched up to do it.
The biggest challenge is finding the right land.
ok the crane driver was given the wrong address,but what a performance with the concrete, i have worked in construction and this kind of thing happens all the time,we hire a concrete pump and driver at enormous expense and the concrete wagon drivers are either pulling their hair out because of small delays,which we pay for, or they are a no show.
still really nice couple and an amazing house. glad we were not building it. i dont think the public would believe the company i worked for, a household name could be such a bunch of f***wits

Last's night's was a good episode, and I do admire the German efficiancy 
However, I'm a little fed up with these "revisits" Channel 4 are doing on this so called "new series" of Grand Designs. Seems to me like a cheap way of repeating a program without it being classed as a repeat. In this new series, there's only been 4 new builds (IIRC) which is pretty naff I think

I didn't care for the style myself, but the engineering and efficiency of Huf was superb. Talk about having the work ethic. It's hard to imagine any British company doing that isn't it?
The crane driver was fine; blame the idiot that gave him the wrong address. And as for a Bosnian driver who didn't speak English - ridiculous.
People just don't seem to care about details. A friend of mine took a day off work to see his new boat safely delivered to its new berth after a 200-mile road journey. They sent the wrong boat

It was a bit too 80s black ash for my taste. Do the same thing in oak and I'd have one.
