any interview questions for offshore mechanical positions
Discussion
Hi all,
I have an interview coming up for a rig mechanic role offshore and I am looking for some interview question examples. I have been in my current role in marine engineering for quite a while so I am struggling to put pen to paper on what I might be asked.
Appreciate I could be ask any one of hundreds of questions but I just need to get kicked off with a few to get me thinking if anyone can help.
Cheers

Might be asked or you should ask?
Should ask...
Shifts
Transport
Role
Where you fit in the seniority
Will be asked...
Relevant qualifications, helos, contractor cards etc
Experience of being away (sounds like you'd have it if on a boat)
Stress situations, both H&S danger and personnel going postal
Why, what is your motivation
What similarities your have from your current industry
What you know of the industry, history etc, lessons learned (e.g. the obvious is Piper Alpha, lots of videos on that, what about the number of divers that have died, mechanical seal / pressure failures contributed there).
Have a look at the HSE reports on maintaining rigs, there is a feeling we've narrowly avoided Piper Alpha again on 2 or 3 occasions in the last few years and as legacy fields keep changing operators the HSE think the risk is increasing

thanks everyone for the comments, it was for a mechanical maintenance position on an FPSO. The interview was fairly straightforward in the end with most of the questions focusing on HSE and the permit to work system, very little technical stuff but then the interviewer has worked with one of my current colleagues so I suspect he already knew my technical competence.
