BMW Approved Used - BBQ Sauce Anyone?
Discussion
Maybe I expect too much but having a look this morning on BMW approved and came across a 530d that looked good and in the budget. Having a look through the pictures and the first thing that struck me was the 'Thrifty' sticker on the boot, I guess some would say at least they are not hiding the fact it was a rental but still....!

Then the pièce de résistance, BBQ sauce (or Ketchup!) on the climate control dial, surely no one would upload images without checking first!

Not sure it is the car for us!

I’m not surprised in the slightest. Just proves that the cars from main dealers are no better than what car supermarkets sell really, just with a warranty and a shiny showroom.
I went to look at the local Stratstone dealer before I bought mine and all the cars were rough as anything.
I also walk past Sytner Nottingham on my lunch and many of the cars on the front are not exactly spotless

The person that uploaded the images has failed somewhat there or they just did the pictures before it went for prep to get home early.
As for being ex rental, Thrifty are one of the better companies as they are more of a corporate supplier so many of their cars are used for business trips and from experience seem much less abused than other rental firms vehicles.

Sister in law was looking at a 1 series at a BMW dealer...well presented i was dragged along as the knowledgeable male friend
I asked about previous keeper. They confirmed it was Thrifty
Dealership acted surprised and tried to tell us how well rentals are looked after....
Until i pointed out sis in laws son worked at a local Thrifty ..... on the hire desk
Needless to say she didnt buy it

I bought an ex rental 530d for 26k in December, it was 26k vs a list of about 47k, 9k miles 9 months old. It hadn’t been detailed but had received a valet and was pretty mint.
The way I view it, most people outside of PH circles don’t drive it like they stole it, most people just plod about, averaging out the abuse.
My one owner, full history XF company car that just went back was treated with zero mechanical sympathy and booted every day.
