Exciting times - new set of pans...
Discussion
MrsSE and I have recently moved house (our first buy) and have been decorating everything.
It's time for a new pan set - however, owing to a small fire (!), some of the budget has gone on a new oven setup. We want some decent saucepans for the first time in our lives, not cheapy Asda stuff.
We have Amazon vouchers to use, potentially. And MrsSE has decided she wants duck-egg blue, to match the decor.
Are either of these any good?

I have been looking at La Crueset, but £500 for a set of pans is a tad unrealistic for two tight northerners...
Any other suggestions?

So when you redecorate you have to replace the pans as well? May as well go for those on Amazon in that case, they're inexpensive enough to be disposable. If you want pans that'll last you a lifetime then sourcing them from professional catering suppliers isn't a bad idea. It'll make the Amazon ones seem like a bargain, but you'll never wear out a set of Bourgeat stainless pans. Perhaps look to those when you change colour schemes.
Costco - I got the this set about 4 years ago and still going strong. Top quality and great non-stick!

Just get the LeCreuset ones, they will last a lifetime. Mine are fantastic and worth every penny! It's time for a new pan set - however, owing to a small fire (!), some of the budget has gone on a new oven setup. We want some decent saucepans for the first time in our lives, not cheapy Asda stuff.

They look crap to me mate no better than Asda, a tenner a pan, what will they be like?
I would invest in a set of three stainless steel pans with a lifetime guarantee (I’ve had mine for 21 years) and a good branded non stick heavy saute pan and lid. Never use metal implements on a non stick and wash gently with a nylon brush or the soft side of washing up sponge

I have the Le Crueset ones and they were certainly not £500, lookout for deals...
Having said that whilst they are great pans I hardly use them, now this may be down to the fact I'm a single bloke but I use either the George Foreman or the Tefal wok...
Actually it might be because I'm single...

Aluminium doesn't hold heat as well and anything cheap with a coating will tend to start losing its coating fairly quickly.
Your best bet is some quality stainless steel. No need to go for some fancy brand, I bought a set from M&S 20 years ago and they are still like new and great for cooking with.

Not sure where you are OP, but see if there’s a Le Crueset outlet place near you.
I’ve just been to the one in York and get a casserole pot at half price.
One tip, don’t try to colour co-ordinate your pans, either with themselves and especially not with the kitchen. It will save you lots over the long run, trust me.

We've got a set of Le Creuset , got them 30 years ago as a wedding present and they were £95 for the set back then.
Just stopped using them this year, not because there's anything wrong with them, they're still like new, but because my wife's wrists aren't strong enough to work with them any more.
My daughter's just starting using them and I've no doubt they'll last at least another 30 years.

We picked up the set and added to it as they have a decent selection of sizes and type.

Invested in these and no regrets, £350 not 500 which is a lot but you can see where the money goes. Need half the ‘gas’ to cook and are stainless steel so no nasty chemicals in your food - still totally non stick though! Never managed to mark them yet!

IKEA stainless steel (think the range used to be called 365+). Cheap and lasts.
Stay the hell away from any non-stick coating, however good the sales pitch, just stick (ahaha) to plain stainless steel.
And get a Lodge cast iron frying pan (about £30 on Amazon). Will outlast your grandchildren.

You won't want to hear this (what with being a Northerner!) but honestly, just buy Le Creuset.
I purchased a set of 5 of their non stick pans in 2010, a year later I bought a set of 4 of their stainless pans to complement the ones I had - they are magnificent! Despite being used every day, they all still perform like they are new. Yes, they were expensive at circa £1100 but you could get a set of 4/5 non stick ones from the outlet store for much less than £500 I imagine.
Buy cheap, buy twice.........(or likely three/four times)

When it come to using frying pans I always used the Tefal Pro Range, which have always been very good.
But last year when amazon were doing prime offers, they had this set of pans come up for less than £40, so I just thought I would give them a try.
They are frankly brilliant, they cook so evenly and quickly, never stick, are made like the proverbial brick toilet too.
They were so good I invested in the full set of pans too!
The full set is now £299 direct form circulon.

Agree with this review I have a full set of circulon pans & skillets for well over 7 years now. I have to admit the pans are in great condition still but the skillets have worn and the non-stick went on them, HOWEVER! I contacted Circulon and without any questions sent me two new pans our within a week after owning them for so long and they're just as good again!
