Long time lurker, first time poster...

I have a car on PCP (3 year deal, had it about 8 months so far) and just received notification that the dealer entered administration. I took a service plan out at the time (too good a deal to pass up on) and paid that in full up front.

Just wanted to check that ,in theory at least, nothing changes for me since my arrangement is with the finance company - who haven't gone into administration. I have lodged a claim against the value of the unused service plan with the administrators but just wanted to check if there are any other "gotchas" I should be wary of.

Thanks in advance!

Is the service plan a dealer service plan or a manufacturer service plan? i.e. a BMW service plan can be used at any BMW dealer, not just the one you bought from.

In that case you'll probably have no claim.

If you paid for the service plan on finance then your contract is with the finance company and you will have some recourse through them. If you paid cash unfortunately you are highly likely to have lost the money.

If the service plan is through the manufacturer or finance company then you will be fine.

If it is through the dealer then it will most be 3rd party managed; ours are, so it should be safe.
