Nice surprise when I got back yesterday...there is now a bus stop right outside my house. no actually better make that

The bus stop sign is about 15 feet from my front door. Luckily I have a fairly big leafy tree right outside my living room window otherwise as the bus stops everyone could see right into my living room. That's the case now but it gets a bit barer in the winter.

They haven't put any markings on the road just that big off sign.

Now no-one from the council/bus company/whoever contacted me about this or placed notices etc.

Is that how it works ?

I'm not sure but I reckon that's lost me a few Ks off the value of my home. The sign looks bad, like out of place and it's about 10 feet from the mouth of my drive.

I also hate buses with a fg passion.

You want to be careful...

A mate of mine was shall we say "pleasuring himself" in a upstairs bedroom when a full double decker bus stopped outside the house

Tough luck

You'll probably find there's been some notice hidden in the cellar of the council buildings for the past few weeks that you were supposed to have detected using ESP.

I make a habit of checking my council's page of notices on the internet, but I doubt busstops would appear on there

Worse than that - a mate was exercising his right arm over a girl (not literally, although he could have probably ) he spotted in the bus queue outside his house!!

Marshall your thoughts as to why it shouldn't be there and then forthwith lodge a complaint with both the LA and Bus Company. They may agree and move it elsewhere.
More ammunition is any of the neighbours object.

Would have thought when this matter was thought up there should have been consulation with owner of property adjacent to where stop erected.

DVD.

Tough luck, we (myself and neighbours) have been campaigning for a bus stop near to our houses, bus company say not enough people to justify it (only about 50 houses, most of whom have to walk for ten minutes to get to the other bus stop). Mind you public transport here is plentiful and cheap.

Thx DVD, I'm totally not happy with this. The bus stops actually about 15 feet from my front door, if my blinds are open you have an entire bus looking in.

No markings yet but it's just not feasible to put them in because the driveways belonging to all the houses are quite close.

The house on the left has been up for lease for 3 months and the house on the right, well it doesn't really stop in front of them.

I think they're bang out of order on this especially when 50 feet up the road there's just a stone wall for 60 feet.

I'm seeing my lawyer this week.

If anyone was buying a house do you think this would affect the price ?

Did I mention I hate buses ?

Not necassarily..I for one would not even get as far as haggling over the price once I saw there was a bus stop on the door step.

There must be something you can do about it especially if there is a more suitable site yards away. I would see if you can get some neighbours to agree with you aswell.

Is there anything prohibiting you from parking on the road outside your house? (or is that catch 22, yes, the new bus stop!) Buy or borrow a bus, a double decker would be best, and park it up outside.
