Leasing... back to buying..

With the so-called 'good' years of leasing behind us, I find myself unsure as to what to FTQ for next.

Cash budget of around £35k low mileage around 7,000 a year. I am currently in a V90 lease that goes back in September and like the comfortable relaxed nature of it...

My car history has been mixed: As far as I can remember so far (dates of registration) I had the Punto when I was 17, 31 now:

As we have a little boy (nearly a year old) I enjoy the space and safety of a bigger car, but open to most things.

Must haves in order of importance:

Residual value (likely to keep 18months if I am honest)
Running costs reasonably low manufacturer warranty (used car warranty ok as long as manufacturers)
Ride and safety
High quality
Practical

My current front runner is a Porsche Macan diesel 2015/16 20,000 miles ish. They seem to be holding value well and all approved Porsche receive 2-year warranty.

Also looking at the 530d xdrive Msport touring but concerned around residuals on these.

Anyone have any ideas and would be interested to see how long other people keep their cars for and what they have had!

why do you need a 35k car when a 10k one does the same job? You ould put 25k away for your kids 21st then to set them up on the property ladder, Just a suggestion.

You’re not doing much mileage. Why not something like a nice E Class estate for £15K or so and just run it forever? If you decided to change it at some point, you’re not going to lose a fortune.

My suggestion is leftfield, I've supplied four of these now a family member of mine they've had it just over four months now & surprisingly the value on these has increased (I'm guessing talk of ULEZ areas is helping) as an example I purchased their 66 plate with 21k on the clock for 18k now you're looking at around 22k for the same car.

They come with every extra you could want a few you didn't know you wanted the fit & finish is very good, there's a small downside & that is that Infiniti are pulling out of Europe but all the Infiniti dealers will become Premium Nissan Centres so all service packs/warranties will be covered & you'll be able to extend your warranty should you wish too.

The performance is very good AWD helps with a 0-60 in the 5's they seem to average between 30-34mpg real world & they're a decent steer space wise my cousin manages fine with the forward facing baby seat .

If I was going to get one I'd probably go for this one haggle hard & they'll probably cover the cost of shipping:

I'm on my 2nd lease and decided to buy next time.

Done my calculations and based on buying and keeping a car for 2 years will be around the same if not a little less than leasing

No real financial savings but more flexibility for me and also the opportunity to drive something more interesting- current thinking is a Mercedes CL63
