AM DB7 V12 - production volumes (again)
Discussion
Hi all,
You'd think that this had been done to death...but after extensive searching and not finding any answers....perhaps the question has been raised one too many times, but never answered.
So - my hope is that I find the sweet spot with timing - and now someone with knowledge is floating past to help out.
Specifically, I can see the production volumes for AM DB7 V12 - it is circa 4100 units over a few years including GT, GTA and variants.
But what I am hoping to find is a breakdown by;
But I cannot find the breakdown anywhere - which is quite mystifying. I have a Masser at home, and production numbers out of Bologna were easier to find that for AM!

But what I am hoping to find is a breakdown by;
- RHD vs LHD (for AM's I would presume 90-95% are RHD)
- Vantage vs Volante (coupe vs convertible) - I would presume circa 75% are coupe
- Auto vs manual (I'd presume 90% are manual)
But I cannot find the breakdown anywhere - which is quite mystifying. I have a Masser at home, and production numbers out of Bologna were easier to find that for AM!
I'm also surprised to read on the site that both auto and 6spd had a top speed of 160mph. I am sure I read elsewhere that the 6spd could wind right out to 180mph, much faster than the auto.
I am also surprised to read that auto and manual are supposedly as quick as each other. I can think of few auto boxes in cars pre about 2007 where the auto was as quick or quicker than a stick shift. I know times have changed now, but invariably I thought the stick was always quicker till we started talking BMW SM or Porsche 997?

The main contributor to both to both the site and the thread referred to is Tim Cottingham, the Registrar for the Aston Martin Heritage Trust so my guess would be his knowledge right up there.
They are close to opening up access to an online database and, if I understand correctly, members of AMOC and supporters of the Trust will be able to access this facility.
He does sometime appear on here but I would think if you contact him via the Trust he will be the best person to answer your question. His “geeks guide” to the DBS and DBS Volante contained some really interesting information for owners and was published in the AM Quarterly produced by the Club. He is currently working on one for the V12 Vantage which will interest quite a few here.
