F31 330d induction/turbo noise developed
Discussion
I have a recently taken ownership (3 months ago) of a 2015 F31 330d which as of today seems to have developed a new sound from under the bonnet.
Under moderate acceleration, what I can only describe as a whooshing air noise is apparent. It sounds to me like it is coming from the middle of the engine bay behind the bulkhead. It is difficult to hear with the bonnet open, and seems much louder under load. It isn't the normal 'hissing' turbo noise that can be heard when the window is down, but instead more noticeable with the windows up.
It almost sounds like a boost leak, split hose, something like that. I have had a look at all hoses and pipes that are accessible, but cannot see anything that is loose or split.
It still seems to pull well and perform as expected, just noisier than before.
Any ideas? Or is it a trip to BMW?
Cheers

What date 2015? If its AUC you have 12 months warranty, I’d take it back to BMW. If it needs an EGR replacement I’d take it back to BMW.
It was manufactured late 2014 I believe, registered on a 15 plate early March. It wasn't purchased via AUC but I did purchase a full BMW warranty separately. It has been in for the recall, but found that it didn't have an affected EGR. I'll give them a call I think and see if they can take a look at it.
Thanks for the response.

Hi mate, did you ever figure this out? I’ve got the same problem, had a smoke test today and they couldn’t find anything Under moderate acceleration, what I can only describe as a whooshing air noise is apparent.
