I'm thinking of getting Canon 20D with the 10-22 and 24-70 lenses from the US and getting shipped here to the UK. Saving is about £300 over UK prices with shipping included.

Q....can ship with FedEx or UPS. Any experience of either as I remember a thread saying one not as good as other but cannot remember which!!!

Unless the value is accurately declared on the package (it may need to be for insurance purposes) in which case you can expect a bill for import duty, handling fee and VAT from those nice people at Mount Pleasant

when i looked into it recently i found (thanks ehasler) that it wasn't worth getting the body in the US, especially when you take into account that it doesn't come with an international warranty. it was a different story with the lenses I got a week ago though, but it helps if you know someone coming back from america who can bring them in their luggage

For that much kit you are almost guaranteed to get stung for VAT and import duty..... HM C&E aren't "that" stupid.

www.7dayshop.com

Seem to be pretty close to most "US" prices, but because they are in the Channel Islands there's no duty

Canon 20D body - £886
Canon EF-S Zoom Lens - 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM - £519
Canon EF Zoom Lens - 24-70mm f/2.8 L USM - £849

I just went through the same for a EF 70-200m IS USM L lens, buy the time I added shipping, insurance, then VAT and finally import duty it came to within £80. I couldn't be bothered, and I got the kit within 2 days from 7dayshop.
