Hi Guys, can anyone recommend a garage for my poor Aston engine is knocking and needs to be reconditioned, due to the age it needs to be cost effective so going to the Aston Martin dealerships s not really an option due to the costs

McGurks had a V12 engine on an engine stand when I was there last month. Worth a call?

Hi Reg,

Whereabouts in the country are you?

That might help with recommendations.

If you are handy with the spanners and have space and time - you could buy something like this:

https://www.copart.co.uk/lot/41547847

Swap the engine over, and break the rest of the donor for spares to help mitigate the cost ?

How many miles has the engine covered?
Quite a rare fault on this engine?

Certainly must be the first I’ve seen mentioned on here.

You've been sleeping then. Ticking v12s (and blown v12s) have been discussed numerous times. B&R stated that they had seen quite a few and isolated the problem to piston slap due to rod big end bearing wear. If I was looking to have my ticking engine fixed, they would be my first stop.

Call Bruce at

http://bhpengines.co.uk/

You won't get a better, more VFM rebuild, what he doesn't know about the insides of the V8 and V12 isn't worth knowing. Powertrain removal can be handled also.

Bamford Rose, McGurks or Bruce are all superb choices.

Did you manage to get this sorted?
Mine has started showing the dreaded 'tick', so I'm considering the best cause of action.

It's a 54 plate with 58000miles, the build number is in the 600s.
