I'd guess tucked up safe and warm, appreciating under a cover??.......

A white and red '98 was responsible for my missing and jumbled memory around 2001 - funny I can still vividly recall the epic acceleration from any speed!?

They were good. I vividly remember these coming out and thinking I wasn’t enough of a rider to cope with one. I’d not long since bought a new 7R (...free insurance, important to a 25 yr old) so I waited til 2000 and bought a new R1. Mine was the V1.5 (??) so different decals but a 4XV all the same. Loved it to bits, even with a pair of rose tinted specs on I can’t honestly think of anything I didn’t like about it. Managed to ride 15k in 2 years. It was quite tired when I got rid, either spend a fair few quid sorting it out or move it on, so it went in favour of a RSV-R (which I didn’t get on with at all).

I went from a YZF 750sp to a new R1 in 1999 and I loved that bike. I kept it until the new 2004 R1 came out.

I didn't like the look of the one with the funny back light that came out before the 04
