Hi . My local mobile BMW tech tells me the crankcase breather should be replaced at 100,000 on my 2009 320D . My car has done 128,000 . Wondering if I could do this as I have a fair bit of mechanical knowledge . Is there a reliable video showing how ?. Also looking at parts for this there seems to be a variation of breathers offered, not the price but the shape . Or could it just be carefully cleaned ? .

The breather is built into the rocker cover on that engine, u can replace the diaphragm on its own(if you can find them for sale somewhere) other wise you need to replace the whole thing. If your not having any issues with it then personally I would leave it alone.
Earlier engines had replaceable filters, cyclones and housings but not these ones
