Thankfully the self obsessed haven't completely taken over; kind, generous, thoughtful people are still out there.

Uber? You'd never have seen the cab again let alone the keys.

My phone fell out of my pocket in a black cab, I realised and phoned it only to be told it wasn’t my phone anymore.

eek

I've left phone in a cab twice. Once arriving at Dublin Airport - realised and found a pay phone and rang my own phone. Cabbie answered and brought it back and I gave him a big tip.

Recently in Reading. Got to station left phone in cab. Went and asked a guard on the gate for the taxi company number, he was kind enough to ring the company himself and arranged for the driver to re-appear. I spend a thousand a year with this taxi company, so I guess it made sense to bring it back!

A less kind black cab driver - https://www.standard.co.uk/news/london/disabled-wo...

I wonder if he paid the £1,000 costs in cash?

I found someone’s lost mobile in the back of a taxi in Barcelona, I gave it to the driver who had a rant about something then threw it out the window!

Exactly the same, over for an Ireland vs S.Africa match, phoned from a friends mobile but no answer - bugger. Minute later phone rang as he'd stopped when he heard a ringing from the back seat. As it was a busy night he didn't drop it off for a couple of hours but I could have kissed him when I saw him walking through the pub with it above his head looking for me smile

Much better than my first ever taxi driver in Dublin. Told me how much he hated the English!!

That can't possibly be true! Everyone knows not only are black cab drivers the best in the world they are also candidates for sainthood.
