How do I find an aero engine on the beach?
Discussion
I believe there is an aero engine, I assume from a crashed plane, on the beach in either Totland or Colwell Bay on the Isle of Wight.
I'm sure I saw a photo on facebook, but I can't find it.
Very low tides this weekend and would like to go walk around it with my boy.
How do I find out where it is? Google has failed me.

Did you ever find treasure?I believe its visible at low tide. I was hoping someone could point me to a crash site nerds website with a pin point of where it is?
Or a stand with your back to the ice cream hut. face west, take ten paces kind of thing.
This website lists all aircraft accidents since a Boxkite in 1911 and there doesn't appear to be any at or near the locations you asked about.

Having said that I too remember a website that shows all the wrecks on beaches on the Island but i can't find it either at the moment.

Hi Ben,
Go to Fort Vic and walk along the beach almost all the way to Fort Albert - there is a large expanse of sand at low water and you should be able to find it. From memory it's a rotary engine, but it's some years since I've seen it. I don't suppose it's floated away though!
Cheers
Graham

Hi Graham. Cheers for that, we'll take little man to have a look. I'll pop him on my shoulders and walk it from Colwell.Go to Fort Vic and walk along the beach almost all the way to Fort Albert - there is a large expanse of sand at low water and you should be able to find it.
