Paying £7500 extra on a £25k car????
Discussion
Was browsing though Autotrader last night, as you do
And I noticed it offers estimated finance prices. Does anyone really take up offers like this, it looks dreadful to me. Or am I just out of touch with the world?

To me, £542/month sounds awful unless you are really earning some serious money, either that or have no mortgage/rent payment.
Not to mention the fact that after paying it off for years, the final payment is half the price of the car.....
and that they want to rape you for £7500 on top of the price of the car!

I cant see anyone with even half a brain taking autotrader up on this kind and generous sponsored offer.

I think the worrying answer is that yes, a LOT of people will sign up to that without even checking how much they will pay back.
It's the payment protection 'scandal' of the future...
Someone will win a case, it will start a landslide of companies helping people claim back on 'mis-sold' products that actually weren't mis-sold in the first place, they were just stupid to sign up to.

I think the point was not that people can or cant afford a monthly payment but more so the interest rate being charged?
Yep.Personally I wouldn't want to be paying anything like £500/month, not if I was only putting a £1k deposit in. You'd be better off saving the £500 for a year and putting more in up front IMO.
But I can't believe people would want to end up paying nearly £34,000 for a car that was only £25k and will have lost money since buying it. So the question is, do people really do this?

"Monthly price" is a search option on AutoTrader now (it shows 319,729 cars available to search by monthly price) and yes, that's all that a lot of people are interested in.
It a "promoted" price though, based on you clicking through to a third party lender.Yes, a lot of people prefer to budget monthly for a car.
