In forty years of driving, actually taxed insured and driven. 66!

Longest was a Honda CRV, seven years.
Shortest was an old Passat, three hours. Took it back, money returned.

In 15 years of driving since 2004- In chronological order...

Toyota Carina 2 Estate
Vauxhall Nova
Mk2 Golf
Alfa 145 Cloverleaf
Mk2 Golf
Audi 80 16v
Seat Toledo V5
Mercedes 230TE (124)
BMW 316i Compact (e36)
VW Beetle (1960)
BMW 530i Touring V8 (e34)
Alfa 145 Cloverleaf
BMW 328i Coupe Sport (e36)
BMW 750il V12 (e38)
BMW 540i Touring (e34)
TVR Chimaera 400
Mercedes E500 (w211)
Renault Clio R.S.200
Mercedes SL350
Mazda 626 2.0
VW Golf MK5 TDI GT
Mini Cooper S Clubman
BMW 740i (e38)
BMW 540i (e39)
Audi A4 2.8 (b5)
Vauxhall Corsa B 1.2
Mercedes E220 - Indian built (W124)
Mercedes 320TE (124)
Audi A6 4.2 (C5)
Vauxhall Corsa C 1.0
Alfa Romeo 145 Cloverleaf
Honda Legend (2007...it drove itself!)
Audi A4 2.0 TDI (B7)
BMW 525d Touring (e39)
Ford Transit Connect
Audi A4 3.2 FSI Avant Quattro Manual (B8)
BMW 520i Touring (e39)

I count 37, but I feel like I must've forgotten some! Covered some considerable mileage (15k+) in most of them, annoyingly I had some of my best during uni! (316i compact to 540i touring)

The only cars to have ever let me down (recovery or broken but simple roadside repair impossible without parts) are the Beetle, Honda Legend, Audi A6 4.2 and Audi 80 16v.

The best all rounder is probably the A4 3.2 petrol I have now or the e34 540i touring. Both comfy, fast enough, fun when it matters and amazingly economical. If you can ignore the diesel-ness the MK5 Golf TDI GT was also an excellent daily.

I liked pretty much all of them for various reasons, apart from the Clio RS200. That was shoddy in many ways.
