Drum kit for an old boy

My son is moving out shortly & i've informed Mrs Bcm that the day he goes i'm buying a Drum Kit.

I've always wanted one & i'm old enough & stupid enough to go & buy one.

I have absolutely no idea where to start tbh.

If i was to spend say £500.00 on a stet up would this be enough to get me going ?

I just want to bash have a good ole bash & imagine i'm John Bonham for a few days.

I live in south London & i often look in the window of the Drum Shack shop in Wandsworth but have never had the guts to walk in.

It is, I went this route and got a 6 piece kit with 5 cymbals for 200 quids.

Absolutely! There are countless people who have bought a kit and since realised they no longer have the space/interest/tolerable neighbours and sell on for peanuts.

£2-300 for a kit and the rest to upgrade cymbals/skins will see you alright. Amazing what difference a quality set of new, tuned, skins can make!

Spend the real money on skins and cymbals. A decent drumhead will make the cheapest kit sound reasonable.

Cheap cymbals will only ever sound like cheap cymbals, i.e. ste.
