The factory alarm on my Tuscan S sometimes blips away when I arm it and sometimes does not. It never blips when I dis-arm it. I have tried to detect a pattern to this activity but there does not seem to be one. I have to say the blip does sound a bit like the old Harry Moss alarms and I always thought they sounded crap.

Does anyone elses function in the same or similar manner?

I trust the alarm is also Thatcham cat 1 as my insurance co accepted that no additional security was necessary.

IIRC the alarm plips when there is still a circuit open
i.e the interior light delay, try waiting till the interior light goes out and try again, this is not a problem as far as i`m aware, it`s a sort of warning, if you set the interior light to off it will still plips though it must be the relay?

Who's your insurer? I'm looking for my Tamora and ever quote so far has required a tracking device in addition to the factory fit imobiliser.

I've heard this too. In fact there's an "Alarm FAQs" thread somewhere that mentions this.

However, mine also does not conform to the documented behaviour. Occasionally I get out of the car, close the door, wait for the window to go up, arm the alarm and... It beeps. On the other hand if I get out when the window is open, it remains open after shutting the door: I can arm the alarm and there will be no beep, even though the window is being closed. It doesn't do this consistently, though, so who knows?

I phoned Tesco first as they insured my previous cars and they wont insure the Tamora without a tracking device fitted and this is with the car being garaged.

hi graham

my alarm blips when the eletric windows are resetting themselves (eg when you just close the door). if you give it a few seconds after the LEDS stop blinking, then setting the alarm should not cause any more blips.
