Thoughts on 812?
Discussion
Thinking of getting an 812 Superfast after a test drive recently. I was a bit concerned it would feel too big for what I would use it for, which is mostly blats on country roads but on the test drive at least it felt fine. And very fast with a sublime engine and gearbox.
Interested to hear from any owners - is this a good car for country roads? Any positives and negatives? Spec must haves?
Thanks folks!

Hi Andrew, i’ve done a few hundred miles in mine since it arrived, mainly on local B roads, and it’s size doesn’t distract from enjoyment. Whilst it’s footprint is larger than my GT3 touring for instance, it’s not as wide as a Rangie or new M5. Where it does feel awkward is low speed manoeuvres such as in a car park, thanks to it’s very long bonnet and width. The haunches and upright driving position (compared to a conventional mid engine supercar) help when threading it down a lane, and the new superdooper virtual short wheelbase (active four wheel steer) really makes a big difference to how my F12 felt, the 812 feels much more agile and confidence inspiring. It’s actually a very easy car to throw around (as much as i can tell after relatively short seat time so far). Trust you still find time to dig out my old RS for a blast !
Brilliant car. Agree with everything said above. Probably the last of the unmolested V12s. Much as I love Aston’s i am personally happier spending 70k more than the cost of a DBS superleggera, good as that car is too. It is very different. You pay you money you take your pick.
If you can get one buy one.

Any do’s and don’t on spec? Still loving the RS ]
Spec is so subjective and personal i think on these cars - in my opinion (only) i believe darker colours work best on the V12’s, with a lighter interior as it’s a bit of a coal hole inside. Options wise, you def need cameras and lift for usability, passenger display is fun, uprate the hifi is you like to listen to music, apple car play is pointless on an 812 as no central screen and standard Bluetooth works well (in fact the infotainment is a huge step up on the F12). Carbon fibre driving zone is probably necessary, and I ordered a few other carbon bits to lift the interior (although no exterior carbon). Seats wise, again it’s what fits you best, but the race seats are cool, though make sure you order the optional drivers lifter as the seats are mounted low, so those of a shorter leg will struggle.
