Hi all

I have a track car I need blowing over in gloss black. I used to pay £250 for a good quality blowover a while back, so not looking to pay a great deal more now to be honest. There's a bodyshop near me whose quality I have seen offering one for £500, but with a long waiting list.

So something within the £250-£500 range with proven results.

Looking for somewhere within an hour of Newark ideally.

Thanks in advance!

Good luck with that!
Perhaps try the regional section, failing that Gumtree?

£250-£500 seems awfully cheap for quality, even for a "blowover"

If this were, say, a week's work for 1 man to prep and paint you want to pay £12.50 per man hour, including materials?

Are you planning on doing all the prep yourself?

I'm aware most body shops charge more. I'm not interested in those types of places though.

It's just like many wheel refurb places are £70-£80 a rim, but there's a hugely successful and well known place that does £20 a wheel with perfect quality.

I'd rather spend the money I save on trackdays / performance modifications.

You’re having a laugh! As a panel beater and painter myself I wouldn’t entertain that as a private job. All I’ll say is good luck!

St. Mary's resprays in Ilkeston was the £250 one I've used before with good results. Bar a couple of bits of overspray the result was great.

I'm aiming to look around few places ASAP and get a feel for the present quality of work, then get the car in for the work.

Yes that rings a bell now, certainly cheap as chips for the basic service, there's a company near me who do a set of 4 for the trade for around £170 including removing and refitting the tyres, the finish is pretty good too.

So why not use them again?
