I bought a rr sport about a week ago and the car judders when on a hill also making a whining noise from the engine when at 25-30mph. I got it checked by a mechanic and he hooked on a diagnostics and the following codes were bought up.
P0730 incorrect gear ratio
U0155 lost communicatuon with instrumental cluster control module.

I got in touch with previous owner and told him about the problems and he advised me to top up the gear box with 1ltr oil and it should stop. But then again ive taken it to a few garages and they tell me different things such as a few sensors being faulty and the gearbox needing to be flushed or topped up with a litre of oil and also the module needing to be looked at. About an hour ago i was driving with a bit of a heavy foot and when i had parked it up there was white smoking coming from under the bonnet. When investigating the cause it was seen coming up from some hoses/pipes between the engine and battery area.

This one will likely need some proper diagnostic equipment to interrogate the various ecu's in the car.

It could be a faulty sensor, module, or wiring between modules, and unlikely to be easy.

I would rather doubt it is anything that will be fixed by topping the oil up.. I guess it was a private sale ?

Juddering under load is often caused by torque converter needing a service on the L320 RRS.

My car judders mostly on hills and the speedo surges it also makes a noise whilst it is surging especially when accelarator peddle is released. And when I floor it white thin smoke is seen coming from passenger side egr which smells unusual and nasty. The previous owner had badly mapped the car and blanked egrs off so I then had taken off the map and is now stock. I also have spent money on gearbox oil change and egr code delete and still no luck so my pockets are getting rinsed. Its a beauty of a car i just want it running right the only codes that come up relate to the egrs and injectors and not to mention turbo performance but with that I was told I'd get away with. And on the dash when starting car it displays transmission fault and when driving engine system fault and an hdc fault had popped up making the car loose slight power to the wheels. Your help will kindly be appreciated guys as I have taken the car to many garages and they all are saying something different with some not wanting to go anywhere near it. Didnt look much into the car when buying have had my pants pulled down unfortunately😞.

So you've got engine and transmission problems, and engine and transmission fault codes. It's not a stretch to suppose they might be related.

Take my advice, cut your losses and sell the RRS.

These are nightmares to fix. Friend had one with similar issues, gearbox and torque converter rebuilt £2K. Turbo rebuilds, EGR replaced and still issues with elctrics.

Cut your losses now !!! RRS look lovely but I would never have one. Got for a later version ML, Shogun or X5.

As above, unless you have ridiculous amounts of money to throw away on it, walk away before you go bankrupt, you've been had, have your eyes open next time.

It was obviously sold for a reason by someone who knew when to get out!

Its currently at an independant land rover garage and i hope they figure out whats wrong with it at a cost effective price if not then its gonna have to go and it was a lesson to be learnt.
