2004 Ford Sport Ka

Long time lurker, absolutely love the refurb posts so have decided to share mine with you, so be gentle with me....

My brother knew i was looking for a cheap runabout to keep the mileage down on my daily and found this for me advertised on facebook for £500.

I didnt have time to see it until the weekend and asked him, as he works local to where the car was, if he would have a quick look round and if it was any good to leave a deposit.

Looks good, and no mention of rust of the MOT history, so that's good! I've always liked the look of these cars - a quick version of the Ka which was a small, fun little car in the first place. May well be an absolute steal at that price. Is there anything that needs attention?

Havn't had a chance to look at it properly, will get it in the air at the weekend. Interior needs a really good clean and there are some minor dinks to sort, will post a list of action and post once done...

Any ideas how i get the pictures in the main post rather than a thumbnail?

I had a black one of these in 2005ish, and it was a great little car, lack of 6th gear with short gearing meant it was noisy on the motorway but a hoot on the B roads, it liked a drink though!

Felt as good as my girlfriends Puma to drive.

Not tax and MOT expired January 2016 so most like the great scrapheap in the sky!

I am a big fan of these Sport Kas. My mum actually bought one back in about 2006/07 and I thought it was a fantastic drive.

Ok so the turning circle is terrible, the fuel economy doesn't quite justify the 98bhp it's got and it's quite spartan inside.

Absolutely made up for it in how it handled, I think they look great and the gear change was spot on.

They are fun little cars.

My wife had one for a few years, as already said great handling but did like a drink and the turning circle is shocking. Also I never enjoyed changing the drivers side headlight bulb which needed the wheel off unless I wanted to loose a limb

That rings a bell, remember changing a mates and ending up with my tendons left under the bonnet.

Bought the street ka version of these back in 2005. Was a cracking little convertible I thought. Only complaint was the wheels were not wide enough to fill the rear arches. Possibly a future classic now?!

My Sister had one and loved it until it rotted away. There is something you can buy (not spacers, possibly different hubs) that pushes the rear wheels further out. I looked into it a while ago as I was thinking of getting a Sport Ka. They look good on Escort Cosworth wheels too.

Loving these stories, keep them coming... My brother had a Street Ka in 2005 too and hes not a hairdresser! He said the girls all used to wave till they saw someone resembling Mr Incredible driving it haha

I have to be honest I drove the streetka more than the ex wife did. It was the limited version with the red leather fitted.
I do remember a wet passenger footwell from new due to a really naff sponge seal between the cabin air filter and the drain gutter at the bottom of the windscreen. Rather than take it back to the dealer to have the same refitted I removed the offending seal and used non setting rain gutter sealer which worked perfectly.

My missis had a KA Lux as her first car, full leather, AC etc, cracking little thing to drive, used to chuck it all over the place when I borrowed it!! The sport KA must be loadsa fun.

We've had this for about 10 years now - 2007 plate with 40,000 miles. It has the standard rust around the fuel filler cap but sits on Eibach springs, 20mm rear axle spacers, has SportKa front brakes and leather interior. It's a Zetec Climate so only has the 69bhp 1.3 litre engine but handling is an absolute hoot!

Its a real shame these rot because the under pinnings of them are so simple and bullet proof they would go on forever.

never understood why one car Ford would make would rot like nothing else on earth then other cars made at the same time wouldn't.

Thats clearly why the Street Ka has so much more kudos, almost makes me want to sell on now i know Rooney had one! Lol
