My 3200 is coming up for its service (big one) and wondered what the views on using an independant compared to main dealer.
The car is now nearly 4yrs old and the cost for the service through main dealer is £2100+vat compared to £1295+vat through an independant.
I'm concerned whether this would have any real effect on the resale of the vehicle. If so would it be much different to the difference in servicing cost + likely extra's!!!
Any views????

hmmm depends...

if you're planning on trading the car in the next 12 months back into the dealer netwrok then I'd have to say get the service done at the main dealer - it's one less thing for them to beat you up on when you're trading it.

If you're planning on keeping it longer than that (hope so!) then I wouldn't worry and go via the independent - ultimately wherever you sell i the future it will just look to see the service had been done by a recognisable name, as long as it has then if won't be an issue.

I won't be trading it back into the main dealer network, however there is a possibility I may trade back into the independant network as I'm looking for a older Ferrari (Testarossa).
But if I don't find what I want I'll be keeping the Massa for a while yet.

LancasterMaserati of Colchester is A1...there have been numerous posts on here about their 5 star service and beinga main dealer they are the obvious choice. They also give 25% off service labour for cars 5 years + and collect and deliver for free.

I have used them and wouldnt use anyone else

hope this helps

I used Hollingworth's ( www.midland-ferrari.co.uk ) last year for a major service and I was very happy with the all round service I got. My car is back there this week to have an annual service/clutch/exhaust done.
They are based near Worcester so may be a bit too far away, but I'm travelling up from Portsmouth as I felt I can trust their judgement 100%( ashame I don't have the same view about main dealers)
If you are interested speak to Steve Palmer he is very helpful.
