Lost all my bookmarks in Firefox!
Discussion
Launching Firefox as normal.
It has lost all my bookmarks and skins, and ask me to enter a new user profile.
Everything is starting from scratch, months of bookmarks gone.
Errr, what's up doc ? Any idea ?
Internet Explorer still has my old bookmarks from months ago though, but how can this disapear ?
JL
If it's Windows I believe there's a bookmarks.html file located in the following folder:
C:Documents and Settings<username>Application DataMozillaFirefoxProfilesdefault.id6
Does this folder still exist - Windows hides it from regular folder navigation. If the folder still exists is there a bookmarks.bak that you can rename and use and then restart Firefox?
There's some technical stuff about the profiles and folders within here:
www.mozilla.org/support/firefox/edit#profile
This folder does also hold references to your skins and themes so it sounds ominously like the folder is missing...
Any changes/installations/updates you might have performed recently?

Thanks SilverFox,
There are two folders in fact, one called 82uutlsj.default, one called pvf3xs19.DefaultUser, both contain bookmark.bak files.
I can see that the last folder was created today, at the time the problem started.
Should I delete it ?
