hi.

I'm new to Chimaeras, old sweat with wedges. looking through the 14cux wiring diagram, please forgive my ignorance, what on earth is a fan condenser/condenser fan?

on the wiring diagram it looks like a relay with 3 diodes in, and I cannot think what it might be other than a relay for controlling the air con condenser fan?

Ours hasn't got aircon anyway, but I would like to understand what it is...

Thanks,

Ed.

Don't know for sure but I believe the ECU has an input from A/C (if fitted) so that it can pull the idle up when the A/C fan cuts in.

A fan condenser is a capacitor which provides start up current for the fan motor. Motors require a burst of power to enable the rotor to come up to speed, the capacitor acts as a power reservoir

Fankoooooo!

Car's getting an engine bay rewire when I install its MS3X ecu, and I want to tidy up all the dreadful wiring TVR left in there!

Nope, not 12 volt fan motors

Can you post the diagram you are using?

Sounds like the OP is describing a Pektron relay which has no home in a Chim.

Yes, it could well be a Pektron, which would point to wrong diagram?????

As Steve D says, the ECU has a couple of heavy load inputs like air con and heated screen that will pull idle up a bit to cope with the extra alternator load. Im using one so I dont get a dip in RPM when to cooling fans kick in.
