Hi all,

Later this year I'm looking to complement my 993 with a 991.1 GTS manual.

The thinking is that I want a visceral engaging drive (hence the improved manual box) but I also want backseats for 2 kids and a ride comfort that the wife will enjoy - she doesn't like going in the 993, it's pretty focused with pss10 and rs engine mounts etc so a harsh ride. I wish we could use the 993 more as a family so hope that a 991.1 gts provides that. No commuting, purely a weekend/holidays toy.

Interested in any thoughts from those who have or had this car. Especially on its gearing and match to a manual Vs the pdk option. Thanks!

Also, can you fit a rear-facing baby seat in the 991 due to longer wheelbase? Never could in 993.

Just bought one last week to replace my 997S manual, picking it up next week. Really wanted the 3.8 manual GTS and have been looking since Xmas, only seen one other for sale in that time and it sold the same day so when I saw this one I had to go for it..

Only had a brief test drive but it was everything I hoped it would be and I bought it on the spot

I would also be keen to hear others opinions on it to reassure me I have made the right decision!

Lovely! Do feedback on it when you've had some time with the car.

Will do!

Sounds like I was after the same as you.. a bit more space for my 8 year old and a bit more refinement for the wife’s benefit, while still having a bit of the raw feel you get with older 911s - I think the 991.1 GTS manual is the perfect car for that, hope so anyway!

I've had mine for 2 years. They're pretty rare, so good luck with the search. They are amazing cars. Great mid range and a proper top end rush. We take ours abroad every year. A brilliant GT car. Perfect for covering distance. Economical on a cruise. 30+ easily achievable. We usually call by the Ring on the way home where the GTS really comes into it's own. A true do it all all rounder.

If you find one. You'll probably never want to sell it! Which explains why they are as rare as hen's teeth.

Why thank you sir! Agate was my first choice so I was lucky to get it but you can’t be too fussy if you are looking for one of these or you could be waiting forever! Ducktail was a nice bonus!

makes the Astons in the background all look a bit dated!

Agate w/ black accents is such a killer combo

I get the impression that the manual box is rarer on the .1 than the .2 GTS. People really started getting excited again about manual cars about three years ago so really after a lot of 991.1 GTS’s had been produced. I bought my manual 997.2 GTS in early 2016...the manual gearbox options was the same price/possibly even cheaper than a PDK car then.

Odd really as people really want the manual gearbox/naturally aspirated engine combination,

Definitely rarer, there are 8 RWD manual coupe .2 GTS on AT right now but you only see a handful of .1s in that spec each year as far as I can tell. Probably due to all the hype over the R and the manual .2 GT3 a lot more people spec’d it..

Apparently about 50 UK 991.1 GTS manuals exist

I read that somewhere but no idea if true

You would think that most of those would be on PH with it being the enthusiasts choice so hopefully we will hear from them soon!

There is a nice one for sale at 911Virgin at the moment that would be worth checking out.

It might be worth trying a 991.2 GTS as well, most people who have one rate them.

Have seen the 911v car - are the manual varients really worth £15 to £20k over the pdk equivalents? That will likely be out of my budget as I didn't realise they command such a premium.

Lots of lovely pdk 991.1 GTS on piston heads/autotrader in the £76 to 80k bracket. May have to adjust my expectations and go pdk?

I suspect some of the 15-20k premium will be down to the very good spec on the 911V car.

all I'd want as spec essentials are:
- sports PASM for lowest ride height
- GTS interior pack
- alcantara not leather steering wheel

Hopefully not a unicorn!
