Grinning......well, sort of

Hiya All,
Collected my Chim today and have had mixed emotions since. For example:
1) Drove out of dealer, stalled it and couldn't re-start (engine lukewarm). Just as the battery was giving up, she re-started, phew!
2) Overtook a van on the drizzle-lubricated road and went well sideways (long time since rwd) managed to correct, not hit anything, retain some composure.
3) WHERE did they get those ashtrays from!?
4) Road dried out, started to have some fun, grin appears at last. Had long ago forgotten the joys of pulling out of junctions with an LSD. Grin getting bigger.
5) Picked up girlfriend, roof down. Boot full of water. GF has anxiety attack when I try to overtake a Micra with about a mile of clear road. Grin has gone.
6) Finally get home. The 20 mile journey seems to have taken 100. Grin definitely back.
7) Start poking around, there is an almost endless list of minor electrical niggles. None severe, but confidence is draining along with grin.
8) Neighbour comes over to drool. Grin partly restored.
Well, I think I had read too many threads where people have much better first impressions. Still hopeful for a long and happy relationship. Off drinking in Scotland now with 7 college mates. I'm taking my Alfa. I'll ponder things over a few malts...

Congrats on finally pocking up the car.
The driving/overtaking thing will get easier, you'll soon learn how much power to put down in different conditions etc.
As for the starter/electrical niggles did you get it from a dealer? If so they should be responsible for sorting these problems out under warranty.
At the end of the day though they are only minor points that should be easily sorted, get these done soon and you'll enjoy the car no end.
The water in the boot could be down to a poor seal, is this in good condition and are any of the water drainage channels blocked?
Another tip would be to waterproof the hood (Thomsons water seal) as soon as you get time, just in case its not been done recently. Better to do it now rather than leave it and find it does indeed leak.
Enjoy the car anyway and look forward to seeing you round Bedford in the near future.
