As per the title where do you buy your genuine BMW parts? I am very new to the world of BMW and buying an M135i this week but would like to know where you BMW owners buy your parts? (hoping for a few websites rather than main dealer)

I use the main dealer.

Buy enough bits and you get discounts which match or beat online retailers. I realised this when looking to buy replacement interior trims online. Went to BMW who quoted me less than retailers on a certain auction site were charging - for second hand parts!

Main dealer as said, Cotswold BMW do a good line in customer service and more reasonable prices than some.

There's a supplier in Lithuania who is very cheap for older parts (use RealOEM and search Google on the part number). I'm not sure about any savings on new car parts, though.

I'd buy 100% genuine for safety critical or electrical components, but gaskets and seals should be OK from uncontrolled sources.

Cotswolds BMW, via babybmw.net (or pretty much any of the BMW forums) - very good prices and service.

Another vote for Cotswold BMW.

I use my local dealer too, but only because I have a friend who works there so get a bet of discount too.

Harry Fairburn also do very good prices - ask for a quote on BMW Forums - http://www.bmwforums.info/index.php?/forum/8-harry...

I normally ask both Cotswold and Fairburn for a quote, varies which one is the cheapest.

It's always worth checking the price of parts at a main dealers, because quite often, their price is lower than the price from an independent supplier - Especially for silly things such as trim clips, brackets and such like, because BMW can buy directly from their suppliers, and they can negotiate bigger discounts than independent suppliers.

They are actually the main dealer in Lithuania.

Het yourself on BabyBMW.net forum (plenty of M135 owners there) Cotswold are a sponsor there so should get a decent price on parts

I did think that, but didn't want to say, as I wasn't 100% sure.

There are definitely saving to be made. I've bought parts that would have cost £100 more if bought direct from BMW's UK franchises (even with 10% discount on everything and 25% discount on some).

I knew that I was taking the risk that they could be counterfeit, but the parts seemed genuine. From what you say, they were smile .

Depends on what you want, but BMW Direct on EBay sell genuine BMW items. Everything I’ve bought from there comes back with a BMW Park Lane invoice

Thanks you all. Tried my local BMW dealer and also BMW direct on ebay. Both identical in price so order through BMW direct for the convenience of delivery to my work.

Fair. Main dealer should deliver and match BMW direct, Cotswolds certainly will in my experience, but I guess it depends on your branch.

I’ve also bought quite a few bits from these guys on eBay, they are a lot cheaper for things like pre-painted parking sensors for example, and badges. All genuine parts.

Just tried that Lithuanian based one. At last, after years of searching, I found the anthracite cloth covering for my knackered driver's seat on my e36 that I bought back in 1998.

Trouble is when I click on it, it just goes into a loop and takes me back a page to the list. So close yet so far and only 136 Euros.

ETA I see. Use that site for the part number. Have now tracked down the cover on eBay via a Lithuanian seller. About 200 euros incl postage.

Would be nice to have new covers on the seats but I bet as soon as I spend the money something important will go wrong which will mean getting rid. Have to think.

Thanks though.
