No idea what car to buy. Need one urgent.
Discussion
Hi all,
I’ve just sold my Abarth and I’m currently so to speak, ‘car less’. I’ve got 30 days to find a new car in order to continue my current insurance policy. Got a budget of £5k and I’m struggling to think of possible options! I’ve no idea what cars to stay away from either, especially second hand ones.
Can anyone list some decent cars in budget?
Cheers

Quite. How many people /much stuff do you need to carry?
Do you want new? Or used? (Ie some flavour of lease vs 2nd hand)
What sort of driving do you do? Miles per week? Type of roads?
Any aspects of former cars you liked or didn't like?
Any favourite colours?
At least you have loads of options, which is good.
To be honest, i'm always thinking about what car might be on the cards next, so that when mine expires, I'll have a plan.

Giulietta Veloce is a nice progression on from your Abarth.

I'm in the same predicament,
Taking my TT off the road to work on it, but considered quite alot of cars!.
Suzuki swift sport
Twingo 133
Focus 170
Alfa giulietta 170
Skoda vrs Estate
Focus st3
Civic type r
Saab aero
Fabia vrs
Golf mk5 gti
Golf Mk6 2.0ld
I wanted something cheap to run and could motorway more than the tt. Which narrowed it down quite abit, I struggle with 25mpg average with the tt, so I need abit better mpg but let me have abit of fun in whilst being bigger!
Tbh I keep coming back to the Suzuki swift sport, 5k gets you a early zc32, 40mpg and a chain driven car with little in terms of any known issues. And is known for its chuckability.
Next would be the giuletta as mentioned above. Higher tuned 1.4 like the abarth, and abit bigger than the swift. But 5k will be pushing the lower end of the good ones! Prices are dropping though, good mpg and not many issues!
I have even considered a mx5 mk3, as rwd and 150hp whilst pulling 35/40mpg on a trip but feel its just to similar to the tt size wise!

Ideally want a used one. Don’t fancy the monthly instalments again, especially now I’m saving money towards a house I’ve just reserved. Do you want new? Or used? (Ie some flavour of lease vs 2nd hand)

Don’t really have a preference of colour.
