Dash cam fitting. Cable routing
Discussion
Morning all.
I’ve got an F01 730d and a couple of dash cams i’ve Had for a while. Fancier one for the front and a simpler one at the rear. I removed them from y previous car which wasn’t as well screwed together so the cable routing was easy, if compromising as I still used the 12v sockets front and rear.
Armed with links o some hard wire kits has anyone installed them in the same car or similar? 5 and 3 series cars do the similar vintage I expect aren’t too much different in terms of routing, awkward panel removal etc.
I’ll have the piggy back fuse holders for both ends, hoping there is a similar fuse access in the rear and will check realoem shortly. Any pitfalls, tips?

My F11 has a 'hidden' 12V socket under the glovebox, so I used that. I removed the passenger side A-pillar trim, the dashboard end, and the panel under the glovebox, the sun visor... then plugged the 12V socket in, routed the cables along all the removed bits, then had the cable appear by the rear view mirror where my dashcam lives. Easy job, and no fusebox involvement.

Thanks for this. I’ll check that out. BFleming said:

thats how ive done it on a 118, 218 & now my 320. Even done the same on OHs mini, though that ended up being hardwired into the fusebox behind the glovebox.used a plastic scaper to push the cable under the rubber trim on the A pillar. To help keeps the wire into the roof lining, wrapping insulating tape around the cable to pad it out in a couple of places helps hold it in place.
