Missed credit card payment - affect on credit score?
Discussion
Quick background, was offered a c/c with more favourable terms than the one I previously used by my "daily" bank (HSBC).
Received the card in Jan, hadn't used it till about 3 or 4 weeks ago when I bought flights/hotels for a holiday later this year thinking the protection that comes with credit cards might come in handy if something went wrong.
When I logged into my online banking on Friday, realised a payment was due 2 days earlier on the 27th so had incurred a £12 late fee.
Totally my fault but a genuine mistake, paid off the £3K balance on the spot and also set up a minimum payment direct debit on the card to prevent it happening again.
I am looking at going for a mortgage later this year, so my question is, will this one late payment have any affect on credit score?
Is it worth phoning HSBC up, eating humble pie and asking for it to be struck off or won't it have left a record as it was only 2 days?
Thanks for any advice.

Cheers, that's what I hoped.
Have 2 other credit cards with minimum payments set up although both have zero owing as I pay them off in full if they get used in the previous month.
Just annoyed with myself for the oversight on the new card. Don't mind the £12 as I was in the wrong, but concerned any associated file note might adversely influence my credit score.
From reading around on the internet it seems that it only makes a significant difference if the "no-payment" period goes over 30 days without being attended to but wondered if anyone better informed in the industry could confirm.

Phone HSBC!!!!
I done something similar a while back through sheer forgetfulness and got straight on the phone to them. As it was the first time I’ve done this and offered to set up a DD to stop it happening again, they waived the late fee and made no mark on my credit report so it’s definately worth a phone call.

I was a couple of days late with a CC payment a while back when my bank accidentally cancelled a CC direct debit without my authorisation. I phoned the CC company and whilst they could not give a definitive answer about having a missed payment on my credit record there was obviously a grace period for slightly late payments and nothing ever came of it. I hope / expect this will be the case for you also.
