Replaced the front discs and pads on wifes 2012 mondeo titanium X 2.2

passenger side has a grinding / metallic rubbing sound when driving (braking has no effect on the sound)

brakes preform perfectly

took all apart, cleaned everything again and put copper grease on

but made no difference

cant see anything else that would be rubbing

any thoughts?

thanks

With the wheel off, you should be able to locate the source of the noise. Presumably the disc is rubbing on something.

Dust shield catching the disc?

The mk4 Mondeo doesn’t have them, but what it does have is a small steel cover over the lower ball joint, that is very easy to tweak out of shape, and easily missed if your not looking for it. That would be my guess.
