Replacing BMW E61 530D estate

Hi, will be putting my car up for sale hopefully this week but finding it very hard to decide what to get next.
I actually really like it in every way apart from that it no longer suits my usage.
It's a 2008 530D , manual box , estate. It's had all the usual faults fixed and does drive perfectly but my indy said it's showing that 96 % of my journeys are 5 - 10 miles with the odd longer journey. This will cause the DPF to block up.
That was over a 5 week period but is typical year round.
I've only got 4 alternatives in mind.
Lexus IS250. Must be fully specced, Mark Levinson stereo etc
Lexus GS300, spec as above
Honda Civic Type S GT ! ( does the diesel in these have a DPF?)
Honda Accord, 2006-7?. Not sure on 2.0 or 2.4 , but would pick the auto
What are the real world mpg figures for the 2 Lexus please?

Keep it until the DPF blocks up, it may never block up, or just be concious of taking it for a blast every couple of weeks - better the devil you know and all that, especially if your budget is the sale price, least your 530 is a known quantity...and you said it's running perfect and had all it's bit changed, seems daft to move it on now to me.
You could buy someone else's problems and have alot more things to worry about than whether your DPF "may" block up or not (even then it ain't terminal, get them cleaned out now, and beamers are typically good on their DPFs) there's some right dogs out there if your scraping a budget together.

Sorry Im not a fan of Mercedes, in fact test drove that model e class and preferred the 5 in every way.

Sounds like you may be more suited to a petrol rather than diesel replacement.
That's said , can the garage not force a regen? Or do it yourself if you find the necessary conditions for it to happen as part of a motorway journey. I have heard of some Volvo owners driving at X amount of revs for a few miles in order to force a regen (once engine is up to temp), should be similar for the E61

I've had about three forced Regensand done about the same myself, get the screen warning and lack of power then it's time to do one.
Indy says with my journey times it will keep happening and the more miles on the car the more often it will happen so that's why I say it's my use that is causing it

Got a E91 2009 325d which like yours is only doing low miles(just over 2k last year) but runs do tend to be longer.
DPF Ok at moment but could get same problem as yours.
When the previous BMWland web site existed there was a lot of info on clearing DPF and one solution that was reported to work by members was for a passenger to clear the DPF code with an OBD scanner(C110 commonly used) whilst the car was being driven.It would reappear again but by continually clearing the code many members of the forum reported success in finally getting the DPF to regenerate. Scanners less than £40 and gives access to engine temperature and DPF back pressure? (need to look up).

Thanks, im aware of that . I've done thermostats, checked temps regularly etc. It's just my usage is not suited to a big diesel engine. I'm finding it a hard car to replace. It suits me very well other than this issue
